Questions
Honest answers.
- 01
What kind of clients do you work with?
- I work with English-speaking expatriates navigating the challenges and opportunities of living abroad. My clients include professionals, trailing spouses, entrepreneurs, academics, and adjusting families.
- 02
Do I need to speak French?
- Not at all. All sessions are conducted entirely in English. Navigating France as an English speaker is often part of what we work on together.
- 03
I'm not 'struggling enough' — is this still for me?
- Yes. Many clients are functioning very well externally. They're just not thriving internally. If something feels off, that's reason enough.
- 04
I'm not in Paris — can I still work with you?
- Absolutely. Most sessions are via secure video call. In-person sessions are available in Levallois-Perret for those in the Paris area.
- 05
How is this different from other expat coaches?
- No other coach in this space combines a U.S. psychiatric background, lived experience in France, and a structured methodology — the CII framework — for Cultural Identity Integration. That combination is the difference.
- 06
Do you provide medical or psychiatric services in France?
- No. The Expatriate Society offers life coaching only — not psychiatric treatment or psychotherapy. Dr. Franks is not practicing medicine in France. That said, Dr. Franks is able to use her specific expertise to provide a high level of individual coaching.
