The CII framework

Beyond settling in. Truly belonging.

Most expat support stops at logistics — visas, apartments, neighborhood guides. Cultural Identity Integration addresses what nobody else does: what the move quietly does to your sense of self.

01

Clarify

Honest reflection. We discuss your specific challenges in detail to identify specific goals and a roadmap to get you there. Some clients struggle most with developing their sense of self, confidence, relational issues or their professional identity.

02

Reconstruct

The core of the work. Using Cultural Identity Integration, you move from feeling fragmented — caught between who you were at home and who you're becoming in France — toward a confident, integrated sense of self where both coexist naturally.

03

Integrate

Insight becomes reality. You leave feeling an integrated identity — professionally confident, socially connected, and culturally fluent in France without losing the self you arrived with.

Portrait of Dr. Amy Franks
Founder, The Expatriate Society

A coach who has lived every part of this transition.

I'm Amy. I'm a U.S.-trained physician and the founder of The Expatriate Society — and I know exactly what it feels like to arrive in France with impressive credentials, high expectations, and a quiet sense of being completely lost.

Using my professional background and cross-cultural research, I developed the coaching framework called Cultural Identity Integration to help my clients develop a more cohesive sense of self as they are building a new life. The professionals I speak with every day are hardworking and motivated to achieve. I hope to assist them in this journey, as adjusting to new life and culture comes with specific challenges.
